Today, more than 400,000 children in our nation’s foster care system are waiting to find a family of their own.
And there are more than two million people who would consider fostering or adopting these children, but are denied the opportunity because they are LGBTQ.
The Every Child Deserves a Family Act (ECDF) would eliminate these barriers and help create loving families.
Focused on the best interests of children, ECDF would ensure that otherwise eligible foster and adoptive parents are not turned away simply because of their sexual orientation or gender identity and expression. The bill also prohibits discrimination on the basis of the sexual orientation and gender identity and expression of the child involved.
Bend the Arc has become the leading Jewish organization in the coalition building support for ECDF. But we need your help to show members of Congress the importance of creating a federal standard of nondiscrimination that enables more loving parents to open up their homes to children in foster care.
Send a letter to your member of Congress right now urging them to cosponsor the Every Child Deserves a Family Act.
